Friday's News

Happy Friday Folks!

Wishing everyone a wonderful Friday.

Product hangover. Ever had it? no I am not talking about a product that you enjoyed so much that the next day your head hurts from using it or working on it too long. I am talking about that one product your creating that you start working on and then shelve it for awhile thinking you will get back to it after a day or two. Well Jeff finally finished one of those product hangovers except this one wasn't a day or two sitting on the shelf. It sat there for close to a month or two. However, it is finally done and will probably be up in the store sometime late next week after some editing.

We are also looking to being off the electrical grid for the next few days as we head up north to the great outdoors of a cottage with Secondgradeaclious. It should be good times.

Teacher Binder

Confession...I struggle to stay organized.  It does not come naturally to me.  So when a good friend of mine over at secondgradealicious offered to co-create a teacher binder, I jumped at the opportunity.

For those of you who don't know me, this is my sly face, better knowing as the #slybrow.
It's the face my husband saw when I can home from Staples.  Why go to staples you ask???....I went a little crazy and got our Teacher Binder bound, but between you and me, it was totally worth it.

I know it's not cool to brag about your work, but come on, this thing has everything I need to look like I'm totally on top of my game this year...and it was made with secondgradealicious so is it really bragging...I think not;)

So here are a few of my favourite pages...

The cover, yes, I love the cover.  Pink, teal, black, what's not to love?

Love the monthly calendar.  Clear, bright, lots of space to write important dates to remember.

This is a page I feel I will be using a lot.  I am horrible at recognizing students birthdays.  *Gasp*...  I know... not the norm for teachers.  I am so excited to keep my students birthdays organized with this sheet in our teacher binder.  Finally, I can be one of those teachers who always remembers and has a little something fun for my students to look forward to on their special day.

The next page I love is the staff contact information page.  I am always in need of a staff member's number when I am unexpectedly sick.  This is a great way to keep everyones information in one place.
Now you can see why I got it bound, I can't lose any of the pages;) Yup, I can confess, I lose loose pages of important info all the time.

My last favourite page is the Ontario Curriculum checklist.  I love to preplan what I will be teaching first term and second term so this I know will help keep me on top of my game.  This is available in Rclassroomsrus tpt store for free, however, in our Teacher Binder we have included all the common core expectations for our American friends.

Wishing everyone an organized start to the school year:)

Friday's News

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday.....I think. Yes, I have to admit my first "what day of the week is it" moment happened this week. You know because when your on summer holidays everyday tends to feel like a Saturday. Luckily though we where able to figure out what day it was early in the week when Jeff got to complete a bucket list item.

On Tuesday, we got a chance to see the small little quartet out of Dublin, Ireland also known as U2. I don't maybe you've heard of them. For Jeff this was a must, Libby not so much. However, by the end of the show she was entertained enough. Here are some photos and videos from their performance.

Jeff, has finally cracked into his summer reading cause hey who doesn't love themselves some summer reading. The first book he is currently reading is "Drive" by Daniel H. Pink. While, the book mainly focuses on working with those in the business sector a lot of the same principles work for dealing with students. So far he's been pretty impressed and has a few new ideas for his classroom next year.

Later on today, we will be watching our daughter perform in her first play. This entire week she has been participating in a drama camp. Each night she has come home with so much excitement for what she has learned that she begged us to sign her up for another week. I think Libby might have hit the nail on the head with signing her up for these camps.

How have you been spending the week? Let us know.

Cheers!

HAPPY SUMMER!!!!!

We kicked off our summer by hitting up a Blue Jays game.

Our daughter was pumped, until she realized the game was several hours.

So here's how her and I spent the rest of the game, walking laps around the stadium. She also made the decision that next time we will just send daddy with a friend since this sports stuff is "a little boring".

Next we celebrated Canada Day. Nothing says Canadian pride like lots of red and white:)
Hope all of you are having a wonderful summer.
